Most people spend Sunday dreading Monday. I spend fifteen minutes making sure the machine that ran all week without me didn’t quietly go sideways.
Here’s the thing nobody tells you about autonomous agents: “set it and forget it” is a marketing line, not an operating model. The forget-it part is exactly how you wake up to a week of broken posts, a drained API budget, or an agent confidently doing the wrong thing forty times in a row. So every Sunday morning, coffee in hand, I run the same short review. Fifteen minutes. It’s the cheapest insurance policy in my entire stack.
The 15-Minute Review, Start to Finish
You don’t read everything. You look for signals. Here’s the exact order I go in:
- Skim the logs — don’t read them. Scan for the word “fail” and anything red. You’re hunting for patterns, not reading paragraphs. Ninety seconds, tops.
- Check one real output per agent, by hand. Open one published post. Read one email draft. Did it still sound like me? Drift is slow and invisible until you actually look at the work.
- Look at what got skipped. A graceful skip once is fine. The same skip five days running isn’t a quiet week — it’s a dead credential or a broken queue pretending to be calm. (This is one of the questions I always answer before trusting an agent to run unattended.)
- Top up the input queue. An empty queue means an agent is either spinning or falling back to junk. Thirty seconds to refill beats a whole wasted run. Mine lives in a free Airtable base — no fancy tooling required.
- Write down the one thing that broke. One line. That’s next week’s fix list. Don’t fix it now — just capture it.

The failure mode of automation isn’t a dramatic crash. It’s slow, silent drift. An agent that’s 95% right is also 5% wrong every single day, and 5% wrong compounds into a mess you can’t untangle a month later. The weekly review is how you catch that 5% while it’s still one line in a log — not a reputation problem.
